FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Hiring Process

What is the process of hiring a maid through your agency?

We start by understanding your family’s needs, then shortlist suitable candidates for you to interview. Once you’ve made your choice, we handle all paperwork, training, and medical checks, ensuring a smooth and compliant hiring process.

How long does it take for a maid to start working after I engage your services?

The timeline depends on the maid’s source. Transfer maids can start in as little as 1–2 weeks, Direct Hire may take 2 weeks to 3 months, and APS (Advance Placement Scheme) maids are usually available within a few days.

What is the difference between Direct Hire, Transfer Maid, and Advance Placement Scheme (APS)?
  • Direct Hire: You bring in a maid from overseas, often one you already know.
  • Transfer Maid: A maid already in Singapore looking for a new employer.
  • APS Maid: Pre-approved maids already in Singapore under MOM’s Advance Placement Scheme who can be deployed quickly.

Legal & Compliance

What are MOM’s (Ministry of Manpower) requirements for hiring a maid?

You must be at least 21 years old, not bankrupt, and capable of supporting a maid financially. MOM also requires first-time employers to attend the Employer Orientation Programme (EOP).

Do I need to attend the Employer Orientation Programme (EOP)?

Yes, if you are hiring a maid for the first time, attending the EOP is mandatory. It helps you understand your responsibilities as an employer.

What type of insurance coverage is mandatory for a maid?

You must provide medical and personal accident insurance as required by MOM. We will help arrange the right insurance coverage for your helper.

What happens if my maid falls sick or gets injured while working?

As an employer, you are responsible for her medical care. Insurance will help cover hospitalisation and treatment costs.

How do I renew my maid’s work permit?

Work permits are usually valid for 2 years. We assist with renewal to ensure compliance with MOM regulations.

Maid’s Welfare & Responsibilities

What kind of training do maids receive before deployment?

Depending on their role (infant care, elderly care, general housekeeping), maids undergo training in basic household skills, safety, and caregiving.

Can maids take care of infants, children, and elderly family members?

Yes, but suitability depends on their training and prior experience. We ensure the helper you choose has the right background for your needs.

What rest days are maids entitled to in Singapore?

MOM requires that all maids have at least one rest day per week, or employers must provide compensation in lieu.

What should I provide for my maid’s accommodation and meals?

You must provide safe accommodation, daily meals, and basic necessities. Treating your maid with respect ensures a healthier working relationship.

Can I request for a maid who speaks a specific language?

Yes. Our maids come from countries such as Indonesia and Myanmar. We can shortlist candidates based on language preference.

Special Situations

Can I hire a maid if I live in an HDB flat?
